Urban Bloom
This grass-roots project aimed to be the first step in helping a densely populated Athenian community to make lasting changes towards sustainability in a socially and historically important area of the capital. The project focused on changing behaviour through a series of workshops which informed people about energy efficiency and ‘greening’ initiatives in buildings.
Using public spaces as workshop venues, the Climate Advocates succeeded in engaging with groups of local residents. They informed them how to change their consumer habits to reduce the effects of climate change and how to green their roofs or balconies using recycled, environmentally friendly materials. The Urban Bloomers ran workshops on energy efficiency, consumer habits and urban gardening using recycled materials, and organized a mobile street photo exhibition.
