Cagri Öner

ONER.jpgBeing a Libra, spending one fourth of his entire life by changing jobs; two years in a bank, then three years in an environmental NGO which was followed by working as Youth, Sports and Intercultural Dialogue projects manager at British Council for six years. After all he decided to be a professional photographer and designer, a pursuit he started back in 1991. During all those years he has been active follower of all environmental related issues and have attended various workshops, seminars and summer schools in this field. He is a true example of the fact that transferrable skills really work, so he believes that he can transfer the skills and the experience he gained throughout the erratic flight of his career to this exciting project.

 

Ilke Gülseren

GULSEREN.jpgHolds a sociologist degree. She obtained an MBA degree from University of New Haven Connecticut, USA.
She is now working as the Corporate Responsibility Manager in Tesco Kipa. She is responsible of developing and tracking community plans of Tesco Kipa. As the Tesco Kipa is the greenest retailer in Turkey, they are working on building environmental friendly stores since the goal of the company is to reduce carbon emission of all Tesco stores 50% by 2020. İlke likes travelling, scuba diving and music.

 

Mert Çetinkaya

CETINKAYA.jpgStudent of Koç University (İstanbul). He is going to graduate with a bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2010. In the past three years, Mert was organizing events and festivals in İstanbul. After his trip to Vancouver, BC, he decided to change his motivation from organizing events to more serious issues such as Climate Change and Sustainable Development, where he can also use his social skills. In the university, he is the vice president of Social Activities Club and the board member of Ecology and Environment Society. He is currently doing his internship in the Department of Sustainable Development and Climate Change, in T.R. Prime Ministry - State Planning Organitiozan. He is planning to have an academic degree in Sustainable Development and work for an international NGO. Besides saving the planet, Mert enjoys practicing yoga and pilates, playing drums, scuba diving, reading and cinema. He would like to contribute to the project both with his social skills and technical knowledge.

 

Ali Selim Aytuna

AYTUNA.jpgBS degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and an MS degree in Bioinformatics. He is currently working in the IT industry as a software engineer and takes place in large scale projects. Since childhood, he has been fascinated by the diversity and the intricate balance of life. With his multidisciplinary background and interests, he assesses the climate change debate from various standpoints. He strongly believes a sustainable, “0” carbon life is possible and it only requires a tipping point. As a climate advocate, he is looking forward to put effort to realize this tipping point as soon as possible.

 

Buke Cuhadar

CUHADAR.jpgBA in Business Administration, Istanbul Bilgi University, works as a Membership & Communications Associate for Endeavor, an NGO that supports emerging countries’ high-impact entrepreneurs and their initiatives. She previously worked in the field of PR & Communications in various sectors, including TV & Media. Environmental issues and sustainable development has always been very important subjects for her, which she has been following up closely since the first year of High School. It has always been her dream to eventually work in this sector.  Currently preparing to organize the first “Green” Summit in Turkey, she believes that it is never too late to do something about it!

 

Eyup Kizilcay

KIZILCAY.jpgMSc in Advanced Mechanical Engineering, University of Sussex. He is currently working as a Body Assembly Engineer in Production Engineering division for Toyota Motor Europe. Even though climate change is a result of technological development, he believes innovative technology is the only way of out. Cause, humankind is in a point where can not move backward. Simply no body can imagine a world without electricity, cars, computers, or planes. Cause it is a part of our civilization that it has taken centuries to create. Just we need is to change the way of thinking and take into account environmental aspects in any step forward technological development. He believes in low carbon future and his dream is zero carbon emission cars.

 

Işın Ünver

UNVER.jpgHas an MBA and BS degree in Economics from Middle East Technical University, Turkey. She is also a Chevening fellow; she studied Energy Economics at University of Reading, the UK. She is currently working in Energy Market Regulatory Authority of Turkey and dealing mainly with renewables and following international electricity markets. She is an environmentalist, loves to travel and meet new cultures very very much. Yoga and movies are also her interests. She wants to raise environmental awareness to live more Earth friendly.

 

Cem Gündoğan

GUNDAGAN.jpgWorking for NIHA as Project Officer since November 2008. Until now, he has been very active especially on youth work field & civic society. His latest professional experiences are; working as Executive Board Member & Public Relations Director at AEGEE-Europe, and as Short Term Consultant at United Nations Development Programme Turkey. In addition to the civic society projects that were organized / initiated by him; he gives training courses on various subjects such as "Project Cycle Management, Public Relations, Lobbying, Active Citizenship, Intercultural Learning" at local / international platforms. Cem Gundogan is a member of Democratic Leadership Programme of Council of Europe. He is about to complete his bachelors degree at Middle East Technical University. His biggest ambition in this world is to cause mental shift in minds, because this vicious cycle of endless consuming habit destroys the universe.

 

Vidad Elemin Şemşir

SEMSIR.jpg28 years old and living in Ankara. She has her background in biology and education, currently working as a IB biology teacher.  She has organised several charitable projects, including fundraising and awareness activities within the school with her students. Now its time to work with more intercultural wide mass. And its time to take action. She is looking forward to working with ambitious and passionate people.  She believes that she is going to learn a lot from the other advocates. Beating as one heart brings solution along with itself.

 

Nilay Akgerman

AKGERMAN.jpgMaster of Science Degree in Industrial Engineering, Galatasaray University. Nilay is still a Ph.D. student in Istanbul Technical University in Industrial Engineering Department. Her Ph.D. thesis is about “”Modeling of the CO2 Emission Reduction Problem with an ANP based Decision Making Tool”. At the moment, Nilay is working for a big international automotive company in Istanbul since 2 years. Fields of her professional interests are project management, process analysis & improvements. She likes travelling, reading book and yoga. 

 

Salih Emre Uraz

URAZ.jpgMA student in Economics at Koç University, İstanbul. Prior to his graduate life, he was an undergraduate student at Boğaziçi University and during his undergraduate years he started to build an academic interest on environmental issues. In 2006, he wrote an awarded paper on the interaction of multinational corporations and environment for an international student conference at University of Economics at Izmir, Turkey. In 2008, he was assisted to a project carried out by Boğaziçi University Economics department on household CO2 budget analysis and after this project he decided to work more on climate change issues. He believes that every single agent at every level in earth should be acting environmentally responsible to mitigate all the drawbacks of human induced climate change. Emre seeks to raise public awareness through “Climate Advocate” project and to establish contacts with various experts on climate change. Apart from his academic interests, Emre has been singing as a tenor in a Boğaziçi University Classical Music Choir for six years and enjoys reading literature.

 

Merve Titiz

TITIZ.jpgBA in economics, working for 8 years on design management in Turkey. She had experience in various companies and for 1,5 years continuing her independent work life. Trying hard to change her living and working conditions in a more sustainable and ethical way. Since 2008 focused her work field to ecodesign. Iniated an online ecodesign platform in Turkey, in order to motivate and create awareness among students, academicians and professionals in every sector but especially in creative business. Eco Design Platform of Turkey aims to grow with online content building, communication activities and pysical events. The first event “Eco Design Meeting” took place on May 2009. Seeing design as the most powerful tool of communication, believed to change living habits by means of disseminating sustainable design approaches and applications.

 

Coskun Serefoglu

SEREFOGLU.jpgEuropean Union Expert in Rural Development, has been working  for the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs  since 2005, holds a Bachelors degree in Agricultural Economics and received his Masters and Ph.D.  in Rural Development from University of Ataturk.  He worked in two Rural Development Projects, which were carried out in Turkey. He is responsible for activities related to Environment, Climate Change and Rural Development. He was also involved in the preparation of technical fiches for the Rural Development Programme of Turkey. Moreover, while he was doing his internship in EC, DG-AGRI, he was involved in a voluntary group for Environment. His areas of interest are playing quitar, exploring the nature and helping voluntary organizations. He imagines having a better protected natural areas in the world.

 

A. Erdem Türkcan

TURKCAN.jpgBachelor Degree of Mechanical Engineering. Head of Sisal Engineering & Steel Construction. Took place in lobby projects about Turkey's full membership candidacy in France, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands before Turkey started negotiations with EU. Interested in travelling, table tennis and swimming. There are too many to be done about climate change with the point of the view of Industry

Lauri HIEKKANEN - Holds a Master of Science (Tech.) degree in Energy Economics. Currently he works as Developement Manager in Helsingin Energia electricity sales department. Lauri has been aware of climate change since school age where it may have affected his choices in studies and career. On the other hand he is not a hardcore environmentalist and in preventing dangerous climate change he believes more in technological solutions that can be made suitable for masses than a strictly regulated non-carbon lifestyle. “This workgroup would be an ideal way for me to actively tackle Climate Change. Meeting new people and getting new experiences alongside saving the climate is fun for me!”

  • Maher Nasser, Director of the UN Information Service, invited Climate Advocates to submit their 'Jezersko Principles for Climate Action to the UN competition 'What would you say to to world leaders?' UK Climate Advocate Jane Burston responded to this request by recording a short video about most important principles from the Climate Camp: binding emissions targets, an alternative to GDP, a fair deal for developing countries and accountability for delivering on agreements made at Copenhagen.
