I want to foster international co-operation and more consolidated action to tackle the problems associated with climate change. Personally I would like to develop some useful contacts in the process.
 Andrew Staines, 28
Horizon Scanner (Environmental Legislation/Policy/Sci & Tech)
Perth, Scotland

This project allows direct and dynamic action that cuts across various European countries. Using the exemplars produced, governments, businesses and other sectors can be engaged more effectively as they will be able to see what can be developed if useful dialogue and co-operation are utilised.
 Blair Bowman, 18
Student, Hispanic Studies
Edinburgh, Scotland

I want the project to work across Europe to make a noticeable difference and that we leave our mark for future generations to follow.
 David Preston, 28
Solicitor
Edinburgh, Scotland

I want the project to positively raise the profile of climate action within mainstream society and gather those that feel it is all a con.
 Jamie Auldsmith, 25
Human Ecology/Community Development
Edinburgh, Scotland

I hope that we will have a strong, legitimate voice that will allow us to pressure our governments and other organisations to take appropriate and continued action to tackle climate change. I also hope we will form a strong network of people who will be able to share ideas and inspiration to continue grassroots climate activism across Europe.
 Ruth Dawkins, 25
Campaigner, RSPB
Edinburgh, Scotland

I am looking forward to working with inspiring and passionate people. My strength is in communicating ideas rather than necessarily coming up with lots of detailed policy solutions. I hope to learn a lot both from the other advocates and from the workshop and lecture leaders.
 Sarah Ivory, 29
Carbon Management/ Climate Change Research
Edinburgh, Scotland

I hope Challenge Europe brings together passionate and practical people who provide innovative but workable solutions, and have the dedication to drive these solutions to fruition. Trying to influence policy alone can be challenging, but working with others makes the impossible seem more possible and improves the validity of solutions.
 Ruth McNeil, 22
Recent Law Graduate
Inverness-shire, Scotland

I hope that Challenge Europe will expand the publics’ knowledge of the problems faced by the environment and those trying to save it. I hope it will help my generation to face that it can no longer ignore the problems and hope they go away. I hope that I can help take a concrete step towards change which I can be proud of.
 Amna Qureshi, 31
Advocacy Worker
Glasgow, Scotland

I believe that we cannot stand back while the environmental and climate issues worsen. We have to wake up and face the issues and look for solutions. I believe that I have the motivation, the passion, the skills, ability and the experience to make a contribution. And I want to make that contribution to change, for tomorrows generations.
 Andrew Pringle, 23
Recent Psychology Graduate
Edinburgh, Scotland

I hope we create concrete proposals that have been piloted and proven to reduce the carbon footprint of our sample and have a serious chance of having an impact on the carbon dioxide produced by Europe as a whole.
