Attila Ferenczi, 23 years old, Budapest
Attila is currently doing his MSc in Environmental Science at Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest. During his studies he slowly recognised the self destructing habitat of mankind and the non-sustainability of our civilization. He has an idea of an upcoming end-of-the-world that must be stopped, that’s why he is so passionate about environment protection, however sometimes it is hard to be optimistic. If he cannot save the planet on his own he would like to take part in a group effort. His whole life is all about it, as an everyday man, as an organiser, or as a member of Challenge Europe Project. |

Viktor Friedmann, 24 years old, Budapest
Viktor is a PhD student and an NGO member in international relations. Coming from a political science background, he is most interested in the social and political context in which the transformation to a low-carbon economy and society takes place. He is not specialized in environmental issues: his field of expertise is security politics, Africa, political philosophy, and the theory and ethics of international relations. For the moment he is working as a non-paid member of an NGO and in September he started his doctoral studies at the Central European University. His interest in the environment originates from a mixture of childhood experience, political and personal moral dilemmas and a l’art-pour-l’art scientific challenge. Having seen many theories of political action, now he feels that Challenge Europe is an opportunity to put those ideas into action and test them in real circumstances. Moreover, the most inspiring and exciting aspect of this project is its openness to different approaches to the actual problem. Having others around, who are professionals in engineering, marketing or natural sciences offers both many ways to learn and an opportunity to achieve something that he could never reach on his own.

Andrea Ilona Joós, 25 years old, Budapest
Andrea is a student at Eötvös Lóránd Science University: biology and environmental studies on teacher’s faculty. She works on training and media fields. She comes from a grand family, has a lot of siblings and cousins. She has special views on global questions (saying nothing is strange/wrong about our situation that we have problems, as we are human beings, thus imperfect), and determined to shake the minds of people who think being ignorant and indifferent is the solution. Andrea studies natural sciences, but also interested in the arts and social sciences. As so, she is determined to create a joined-cultural campaign associated with education to make a lasting impact on the Hungarian minds and the global debate. She is not worried for Nature (as it is so much wiser than us and lives along even if mankind dies out), but for the future of her own and her would-be children.

Ákos Lukács, 27 years old, Nyíregyháza
Ákos is a climate change economics. He works on voluntary carbon market, emissions trading, CSR and Corporate Climate Strategy. Akos was born on the countryside of Hungary, he had some hobbies that lasted long, and gave him his present values of life: horseriding, folk-dancing and folk music, all none electric, unplugged, real life activities consuming only human energies producing smile and happiness. He became older and decided that he wants to understand all those people, who disagree with others, because it was something hard to imagine for him. So now he expects to bring together social, environmental and economical interests, that could help to prevent the rapid loss of our beautiful nature, the values, our kids once want to grow up with too.
