In each of the participating countries Climate Advocates, aged 18-35, are working together on climate challenges and local projects to reduce carbon use.
Andrea Ilona Joós - Andrea has just recieved a master's degree in Biology and Ecology and a teacher’s certificate from Eötvös Lóránd Science University. In the meantime she works as editor for a cultural tv-programme and sometimes as a trainer for youth. She has a wide range of interests and is continuing to study with the ELTE Faculty of Arts (art theory and media studies). With the advocate team they set up an ensemble where Andrea sings and plays the flute. She thinks that the Earth is not in trouble - mankind is. The problems are rooted in the character of people, in the likes and wants of individuals, in our own character. If there is a solution, then it starts with awareness.
Climate Change
We are working to strengthen networks and relationships among decision makers, influencers and future leaders worldwide to tackle climate change.
Maher Nasser, Director of the UN Information Service, invited Climate Advocates to submit their 'Jezersko Principles for Climate Action to the UN competition 'What would you say to to world leaders?'
UK Climate Advocate Jane Burston responded to this request by recording a short video about most important principles from the Climate Camp: binding emissions targets, an alternative to GDP, a fair deal for developing countries and accountability for delivering on agreements made at Copenhagen.
The British Council in Slovenia organised an international climate camp in Jezersko where young Climate Advocates from Great Britain, Denmark, Finland, Hungary, Slovenia and Turkey formulated the Jezersko Principles for Climate Action, which they would like to see addressed by the world at COP 15 and beyond.
