Worldfavor.com winner of Pioneer of the Year! PDF Print E-mail

Andreas Liljedahl from Worldfavor.com has been announced as the winner of the prestigious Pioneer of the Year competition. Andreas describes his winning project in one line, "We use the power of social media to help businesses do more good in the world." The jury obviously agreed believing his project to have huge potential. "Worldfavor.com can go global in only one day. That settled the contest for us. "

Andreas was understandably delighted with the win saying, "It feels wonderful! Me and everyone involved in Worldfavor.com have worked incredibly hard so it is indescribable satisfying to get confirmation that what we have been doing has engaged so many people" The win has given him and his team a much needed energy boast in their continuing work on Worldfavor.com. "It's full speed ahead now," Andreas assured us. "We will use this fantastic opportunity to get as many businesses as possible around the world to start working with sustainability and social responsibility"

The victory has granted Andreas access to 30 offices on six continents, support and advice from a professional mentor and access to global business networks. The cash price of 20.000 SEK is sure to come in handy as worldfavor.com grows and expands.

"Andrew and the team behind Worldfavor.com were committed to taking their project global from day one." Kent Edquist, jury chairman and
Executive Director of The Hub World Association explains. "They have built a platform where individuals can see what difference they personally can make. This is exactly what the Pioneer of the Year is a competition is all about, the future of entrepreneurship." Kent went on. "The key factors are a combination of economic, social and environmental sustainability. This year the competition has drawn 22 500 unique visitors to its website during the finals alone resulting in 6,000 votes over a three weeks period, its unbelievable"

In joint second place in the competition was given to Magdalena Zeijlon from The MR-pilots and Simon Flato from Sustainergies.

A fun approach is what the Finnish Climate Advocates felt their project needed to convince people to stop using all the old excuses for not cycling. They presented cycling as something cool and desirable through organising workshops and cycling brunches where the positive outcomes of cycling were stressed and excuses challenged.
