Air-pollution conference organised by the Czech Climate Advocates about to get started PDF Print E-mail

For the last couple of weeks, a team of Czech climate advocates have been working hard on the final preparations for a nation-wide conference 'Air Pollution and its Solutions in Small Settlements' that will take place on 16th February in Ostrava, capital of one of the most polluted regions in Europe.

The aim of this one-day conference is to help the representatives of small towns and villages with their efforts to tackle the huge air pollution problem caused by local heating sources. The advocates invited experts to talk about available technologies, financial resources and about communication with the public. The unique feature of the conference will be the participation of representatives from communities that have already dealt with the discussed issue. Each of them will present different, tried and tested solutions to the local air pollution problem. More information is available on www.konference-ovzdusi.cz (in Czech).

While housing is a big contributor to GHG-emissions, energy certificates or carbon footprints of apartments and houses are usually not easily obtainable. The purpose of the project was to help people who are buying a house or an apartment to assess their carbon footprint by developing a carbon calculator concept for property search engines.
