Challenge Europe in Copenhagen PDF Print E-mail
British Council Scotland is working with the Scottish Government and the Edinburgh University Carbon Masters Programme to host an event showcasing Scotland’s work in the field of climate change during the UNFCCC Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen. The event will take place on the 14th December and the focus will be on highlighting the path to a low carbon economy based on the Scottish experience.

The morning session involves a debate between up to 50 Carbon management master's students from Edinburgh University and Challenge Europe Advocates. This will be sharing best practice between the work that both groups have been doing in their respective programmes and will be followed by group debates on the 10
Jezersko Principles for Climate Action formed by BC advocates at the climate camp in Slovenia in September.

Advocates are then invited to stay on for remainder of the Scotland Day event which will hear from Scottish Climate Change Minster Stewart Stevenson and then two afternoon sessions on what Scotland can contribute to the international debate form the business and human rights areas.  Advocates will be asking questions on the panel debates.  BC Challenge Europe will have a stand at the venue as well and advocates are invited to attend the networking lunch and reception in the evening.

While housing is a big contributor to GHG-emissions, energy certificates or carbon footprints of apartments and houses are usually not easily obtainable. The purpose of the project was to help people who are buying a house or an apartment to assess their carbon footprint by developing a carbon calculator concept for property search engines.
