The Hungarian Climate advocates’ team won three medals (two gold and one bronze) in all categories of the competition organised by a Hungarian non-profit organisation to raise awareness about climate change. This was the first event of such kind in Hungary and was also well accepted by the public.
They won the first prize in the category of scale-modelling in which they had to make an installation that expresses important climate issues and in the category of team photo competition. They won a third prize in the climate song category for the song they wrote and also performed. GB Climate Advocates met on a three-day workshop |

On 23 October Climate Advocates from Scotland, Wales and England came together face to face as Team GB for the first time, to get to know each other and to begin consolidating project ideas. The workshop was facilitated by The British Council and Lead International. Over dinner David Viner, the British Council’s Programme Leader for Climate Change gave a fascinating speech in which he discussed some of his own experiences relating to the interaction between science and policy, and urged Advocates to consider the importance of climate change adaptation alongside climate change mitigation. David also set the work of Team GB towards a low carbon future in the context of the British Council's Climate Champions program.

Climate Action Day in Ukraine |

On 23 November, climate advocates in Ukraine helped to organise the first “Climate Action Day” in Kyiv with the aim of raising awareness about climate change issues.
The day started with a march down Andriivsky to say “no” to climate change. Advocates, some dressed in polar bear costumes, participated bearing banners proclaiming “Wanted stable climate” and “The climate is changing, let’s join the efforts to save our planet”.
At the final destination point the group was met by partners from World Wildlife Foundation and National Environmental Centre of Ukraine, presenting information exhibition on climate challenge, alternative sources of energy and disseminating information leaflets to visitors.

The Lithuanian karaoke version of this very song performed by Anthony Turner in original language kick-started the 2nd meeting of Baltic Region Climate Advocates in Aerodream (Lithuania) on the 17th-19th of October. 23 Climate Advocates from Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia with the help of acknowledged international experts joined their intellectual and creative efforts for further advancement of their carbon reduction ideas developed during the 1st meeting at the lake Lezumi (Latvia) on the 15th-17th of June. |

Finnish Advocates take part in a green TV show |

“Operation Earth” is a brand new TV series now running on Finnish Channel Four featuring three separate celebrity teams with different environmental causes to raise funding for. In the TV show one of the teams works hard to get a windmill for an isolated village deep in the jungle in Madagascar, the second team strives to set up biogas ovens and help prevent deforestation in Nepal. The third team, "The Pirates of the Baltic Sea”, sails our own shores determined to raise the necessary funding for a wetland project. All projects will be executed in close co-operation with the WWF. |
