Zdenka would like to be remembered as a friendly, helpful and hard-working person. She believes she can contribute to the project through sharing practical views about how to make environmental protection work in everyday life. In terms of social change, Zdenka would like to see people more engaged in saving the environment they live in, which could be achieved by offering people ways to make a personal change and by raising public awareness about environmental issues.
Sotiris Skouloudis - After completing his studies in journalism, he pursued a job with an environmental magazine, of which he is now editor-in-chief. This is an achievement that he is very proud of, as it has given him the opportunity to combine his ability to communicate with his passion for the environment. Now, his greatest personal and professional ambition is to improve the amount and the quality of information that Greek citizens are receiving on the environment. If such a thing were achieved, it would turn the discussion on the environment into a central public issue and oblige political and private stakeholders to face the issue in a more serious and urgent manner.
Climate Change
We are working to strengthen networks and relationships among decision makers, influencers and future leaders worldwide to tackle climate change.
Maher Nasser, Director of the UN Information Service, invited Climate Advocates to submit their 'Jezersko Principles for Climate Action to the UN competition 'What would you say to to world leaders?'
UK Climate Advocate Jane Burston responded to this request by recording a short video about most important principles from the Climate Camp: binding emissions targets, an alternative to GDP, a fair deal for developing countries and accountability for delivering on agreements made at Copenhagen.
The British Council in Slovenia organised an international climate camp in Jezersko where young Climate Advocates from Great Britain, Denmark, Finland, Hungary, Slovenia and Turkey formulated the Jezersko Principles for Climate Action, which they would like to see addressed by the world at COP 15 and beyond.
