Zdeňka Herová

Zdenka would like to be remembered as a friendly, helpful and hard-working person. She believes she can contribute to the project through sharing practical views about how to make environmental protection work in everyday life. In terms of social change, Zdenka would like to see people more engaged in saving the environment they live in, which could be achieved by offering people ways to make a personal change and by raising public awareness about environmental issues.

 

Veronika Fišerová

To her friends Veronika is sometimes a ‘little eco-counselling agency’. She finds setting a good example to others the easiest and most effective way of tackling climate change. On weekdays she works at the Ecological Institute Veronica as an eco-counsellor and on weekends she organizes environmentally-aimed educational weekends for youth under the Brontosaurus movement. She is also studying Sociology and Environmental Studies at the Faculty of Social Sciences. Veronika’s interests are promoting sustainable consumption and practical ‘home ecology for anyone’.

 

Tomáš Miléř

Tomáš suggests carbon tax as the primary solution to the climate crises. He has been active in combatting deforestation and spreading renewable energy technology in eastern Africa in order to reduce black carbon emissions. In the Czech Republic he would like to see nuclear reactors replace all coal plants and changes in the building sector towards low energy and passive standards. He is also engaged in environmental education focused on climate literacy. Tomas is currently doing a PhD in didactics of physics and working as a science teacher at a primary school. 

 

Pavel Peřina

Pavel has a strong background and interest in environment-related issues as he taught sustainable design in China, and has worked as a furniture designer and geophysical explorer in Australia, where he also obtained a BA in furniture design. He is hoping to use his design skills working with a group of other people to create a project with a tangible and long-term impact for society. To ignite a conscious change on an individual basis is his recent priority in terms of social change.

 

Ondřej Pavlík

Ondřej is an active citizen who is trying to make a change in society. What is vital according to Ondrej is to change the opinion of the general public who think that recycling and sorting out refuse is futile. His goal is to promote environmental education, which he considers the most effective way to attract children and young people and consequently to change the general attitude of the public. Ondřej studies Diplomacy and Business Law at the University of Economics in Prague and used to work on a project regarding civic education in the Czech Republic and Germany.

 

Magda Šimonová

Magda is an enthusiastic person, who would like to see changes in the Czech Republic at many levels. For instance, a smoking ban in pubs and restaurants, or prohibiting cars from entering the city centre and most of all more green areas in the city. She is looking forward to working with a team of enthusiastic people who care about climate change and have a desire to do something about it. She is an experienced voluntary worker and currently works as a Client Financial Management Analyst.

 

Klára Kavanová

Klára’s goal is to give people the serious information and practical examples that are missing in the Czech public arena at the moment. She also wants to be remembered for being a respectable person and citizen and wants to see the end of rash consumption. Klára is a PhD student of Human Geography at the Faculty of Science, Charles University. Being a mother herself, Klara feels responsible for future generations and is thus looks forward to working on projects that will make a difference to the world we live in.
 

 

Kateřina Sparlinková

Katka used to work for IAESTE organization in PR section founding its newspaper, where she worked as editor in chief. Now she works as a language teacher and translator. She would like to get more people see that everyone can make a difference in fighting climate change. She is mainly interested in project ideas relating to alternative sources of energy and home grown production, which she would like to discuss and develop with a team of like minded people.
 

 

Kateřina Sojková

Katka is currently working on her PhD thesis on ‘Advanced Building-energy Concepts’. She is interested in such issues as: the utilization of solar or other renewable energy, the optimization of building design, and intelligent building system control focused on energy performance especially in terms of residential buildings. Katka is looking forward to working with a team of people from different backgrounds to learn something new and share her views on environmental issues.
 

 

Kateřina Kolská

Katka studies Environmental Economics and administration at the University of Economics in Prague. She is an active member of Oikos Prague, a student organisation for sustainable economics and management. Katka thinks that there is great potential for change in the Czech Republic and is interested in raising climate change awareness and in the possibilities of improving the condition of the environment that are present to all in their everyday lives.  Friends find Katka caring, responsible, smart and strong-willed, with good common sense and ability to bring people together.
 

 

Julie Hodková

Julie would describe herself as a cheerful and reliable person, a good listener, able to make compromises and open to other people’s opinions. By studying civil engineering, she is trying to address environmental issues related to the building industry. What she wants to focus on is working closely with the public to understand the effects of the building industry on the current environmental situation and to find possible improvements. She is currently doing a PHD in this area  and in the future would love to see more constructions made of wood, clay bricks or other renewable materials.

 

Jan Baláč

Jan considers himself both entrepreneurial and thoughtful. He would like to be remembered as someone who engaged people by working together to solve the problems surrounding them. He is currently working with Czech Energy company, investing in emission offsets in China and other developing countries but feels that more can be done at home. In the near future he is going to study Technology Policy at the University of Cambridge and hopes that his experiences with the project and at university will complement each other.

 

Barbora Staniková

Barbora-Stanikova.jpgBarbora currently studies at the Masaryk University in Brno, specializing in Special Needs Education and Speech Therapy. She has good evaluation and analysis skills, which she uses in her current position as a Risk Analyst at Citibank Czech Republic. Bara is a friendly and responsible person, seeking to be an active citizen, promoting public transport and other environment-friendly means of transport.

Barbora Pešková

Bára graduated with a degree in Environmental Science from the Faculty of Science at Charles University and has completed various educational training courses. She has worked for 5 years as a project manager in the field of environmental education for the Tereza Association, an NGO. She also spent one year in the UK working in educational institutions and gained some experience as a volunteer. Currently she works for the Centre for Modern Education. Bara is very active, friendly and open. She is fond of outdoor activities and likes new challenges, especially those that make a difference to society.

 

Anna Cajchanová

Anna has a degree in law from the Law Faculty at Charles University in Prague. She currently works at the Department for Compatibility with EC Law where she is responsible for the environmental law agenda. Since 2008 she has also worked as a volunteer for the Arnika NGO. Anna is enthusiastic and passionate about finding new solutions to old problems, and is inspired by people who ‘never stop exploring’.
