Advocates led the Youth Climate Talks in four high schools, introducing 9th and 10th grade students to vital concepts on climate change and what they can do in their daily lives. Read more...

Turkish Climate Advocate’s photo competition, ‘Frame Climate Change’ is calling for professional and amateur photographers to capture the effects of climate change in Turkey. Through this competition, we are hoping to show that the effects of climate change are not only experienced in the North Pole or in a distant desert, but it is also evident here in Turkey. Climate arena raises discussion of fate on the Earth

Climate Arena (İklim Meydanı) recently brought together experts, the British Council’s Climate Advocates, and students for an open discussion on climate change. Following brief presentations by the panel of experts, the audience were invited to pose questions to the panel, moderated by Radyo ODTÜ host and stand-up comedian Ege Kayacan. Were last year’s floods in Istanbul a consequence of climate change? Does recycling really help the environment? What happened to the ozone layer? Is climate change merely an unsubstantiated fact, or even an elaborate hoax? Read more here.

 Turkish Climate Advocates received interest in a science festival in the CEPA shopping mall

Turkish Climate Advocates recently participated in a science festival organised by the Middle East Technical University Science Society Centre’s Science Student Club. The event was held on the 13th and 14th of March in the CEPA shopping mall. Advocates met with people from lots of different backgrounds and had the opportunity to inform this interested audience about the projects they have been working on.

 Responsibility and enlightment to stop climate change

The recent International Climate Change Education Workshop in Turkey proved to be a success in two respects: Emphasising the integral role of knowledge and education, and highlighting the power of collaborative, multiple work in tackling climate change. Read more here.

 

 Challenge Europe welcomes Turkish Climate Advocates 

advocates1.JPGClimate Advocates from Turkey gathered for the first time in Ankara on the 11th of July 2009. They will work together in the coming months on projects to raise awareness which they will select from possible ideas that range from establishing a web site, recycling waste into bio-energy in rural Turkey, calculating Carbon footprints to the effective use of solar energy in heating and lighting. The aim of the Pathways to Green Towns project is to inform people about the positive effects that green areas have on life in cities, towns and villages. One of the project’s elements was supporting people who want to protect green areas in their communities.
